It is strictly non-partisan and favours no party, candidate or cause. Everything rests on two bright lines, because the entire value of observation is its credibility. The first is strict non-partisanship: an observer is a neutral witness, never a participant, campaigner or advocate for any side, who shows no colours and no preference on duty and is accountable to the mission and its code of conduct, not to any party — because observation is trusted only when it belongs to no one. The second is observe and report accurately, without interfering: you record what you actually saw, using checklists and incident reports, distinguishing fact from rumour and never fabricating or exaggerating; you do not touch ballots or materials, direct officials, help anyone vote, or intervene — if you see a problem you note it and report it through the proper channel — you never declare the result "free and fair" or "rigged" yourself (the mission assesses that), you protect the secrecy of the ballot, and you stay safe and de-escalate rather than becoming a flashpoint. You learn the roles at a polling place and which one you are; strict non-partisanship and non-interference in practice; accreditation and the observer code of conduct; the polling-day methodology phase by phase with checklists; accurate reporting, voter secrecy and safety; and how to serve honestly within a mission, with no figure invented. It closes with the classic mistakes and the ways the role is weaponised — fake "observers", bought accreditation, and pressure to sign a false report — with a red-flag grammar and a filter.
